Geirdarddiad / Etymology: Lonicera (luh-NIS-er-a): For Adam Lonitzer (1528–1586), German physician and botanist.
Geirdarddiad / Etymology: periclymenum (per-ee-KLY-men-um): Derived from the Greek periklymenon, who was an Argonaut in Greek mythology who had the ability to change his shape; this is in reference to how the Honeysuckle flower changes shape and colour.
Description: Compact, deciduous, trailing or scrambling climber about 60-90cm high, with oval, mid-green leaves 6cm long, turning purplish in autumn. Sweetly fragrant, whorled clusters of tubular 2-lipped creamy-white flowers streaked dark reddish-purple are produced in mid and late summer, followed by bright red berries.
