Geirdarddiad / Etymology: Tradescantia (trad-es-KAN-tee-uh): Honours the English naturalists and explorers John Tradescant the Elder (1567–1638) and John Tradescant the Younger (1608–1662).
Description: A compact, clump-forming herbaceous perennial with stems of mid-green slightly fleshy leaves. Flowers are three petalled, deep purple with yellow stamens, and appear in clusters in summer and autumn.
